Presentation to Parents at Toys R Us

This project was the culmination of a unit on incorporating strategies from consecutive interpreting into simultaneous interpreting. In a role-play Craig was asked to interpret for Lizz, a guest speaker who introduced an audience of Deaf and hearing parents to two of the most popular LeapFrog educational toys. This was an exercise in rendering a culturally-linguistically equivalent message and working with a team interpreter. (Out of respect for Craig's colleague her portion of the interpretation is not included in this video clip.) 

Post-Huricane Sandy Newspaper Interview

This project was the culmination of a unit that emphasized the benefits of consecutive interpreting.  In a role-play Craig was asked to interpret a mock interview post-Hurricane Sandy.  The Deaf and hearing participants improvised a realistic interaction as ficticious characters (a survivor and a newspaper reporter respectively). For this exercise Craig focused not only on the interpretation, but on the interpersonal dynamics--confidently introducing himself to both participants and clearly explaining the consecutive interpreting process.
